Northern Marcwith is 'old Vinumera' which collapsed when the human population disagreed with indigenous population about the radical groups in the Creeping Desert. FOI fought hard with terrorism and guerilla tactics to cement their place within the CD. Harshly xenophobic and secretive, FOI wants to carve out a culture free from the 'human stain'. Many humans refer to the country as 'the reservation' in refusal to acknowledge their legitimate political standing. The country is a new one, only 30some years of age, although the group has been there almost a century. Their leader is Calque, a Deerless of supposedly noble descent. Many consider him a son of Kildeer or one of Hande's many other 'human animals'.
