Inherited Sovereignty

the rules, privileges, and responsibilities of the nobility, including proper social behavior. With these rules, even the lowliest of citizens can appear to have ‘honor’, which the nobility value above all else. Because of this, it can be sold (to the right buyer) for a high price. To have this knowledge this scroll must be kept in your possession, unless you are a Glypher who can memorize it.

-a noble must contain their emotions, this is polite -a noble must not be rash, prideful, or lusty, this is not honorable

-a noble must not appear in public with dirt or stains on their face and clothes

-a noble must wear fine clothes and never walk in the guise of a commoner

-a noble must not form romantic attachments to commoners

-a noble must be the prime example of honor, no addictions, no public flaws or strange behavior

-a noble must retain their honor by giving back to their community, in this case by sponsoring artists or fighters, holding cultural events, arranging parties or intellectual conferences

-a noble must be well-read and studied as best they can in the memory plague

-a noble must understand social construct and be able to grant ‘mercy’ – pardons for crimes or allowing for an honorable death

-a noble has the right to call upon any commoner or Ratau for any honorable purpose

-a noble has the right to stay in any home or shelter if the need is dire

-a noble must continue their lineage to continue holding their land, either through natural birth of through adopted heirs (‘adoption’ refers to taking another noble child not becoming a lord in their own house as your inheritor)

-a noble must not be raised in anything but the most rigidly traditional combat, and a noble should never be quick to fight

-a noble must not harm one who stays in their home as a guest

-a noble has the right to rule their territory in any way they see fit

-it is the noble’s job to keep the culture of their land intact
